Description
There are definite benefits to having a backyard that backs up to a protected wetlands and having the space to have a wildflower garden. This is the benefit for sure! I am sure my blood pressure goes down several points when I am out enjoying the beauty of this freedom . . . but I have to confess, my blood pressure goes up from time to time as well! . . . . the wild is wild . . . and sometimes creatures decide to kill other ones in my yard . . . always a very disturbing morning discovery . . . and then today as I stood near a tall clump of grass to take a butterfly's portrait, I heard rustling, looked down and a medium sized snake was slithering right up to my bare toes! (I wear flipflops.) Well, I wish you could all see and laugh at me 'running' backwards back through my flowers (protecting my camera of course!) to escape this horrible thing! It would have made your day! This is a lovely Black Swallowtail butterfly atop a brilliant red Zinnia flower.

A real treat for me - I see lots of wonderful monarches my part of Texas, so to see a close-up of this blue beauty is a real treat! Also really like the green leaves to its right angling away as if it too's in flight - very nice, Karen (smiles).
