This is an American Lady Butterfly which closely resembles the American Painted Lady. After looking at both though they are fairly easy to recognize which is which. I think this one is more subtle in color, but equally lovely!

How do you recognize which is which!! Such a beautiful capture Karen! We get many of these but I think maybe they are painted ladies, now I'm not sure!!

Thanks, Debbie. This plant is actually a Verbena (Bonariensis) It is quite wild and reseeds everywhere!
