Description
This little American Painted Lady butterfly got a little wet when I was out watering my Ohio garden and accidentally got her wet when I did not see her. I was able to get her on my finger and carried her over to the patio so she could dry off more quickly. Luckily she was dry in just a few minutes, but this did give me just enough time to click a few shots before she flew away!
It is a wonderful feeling to have butterflies flying around you, ignoring that you are there and to just feel their peaceful grace. It is beyond explaining how wonderful it is when a creature such as this will trust enough to stand on your hand for help. I have had this happen another time with a Monarch that I 'raised' in my house from just a tiny egg on a Milkweed plant! I loved having him sit on my hand for quite some time before I finally felt that he was ready to leave. When I took him outside to release him, he had trouble grabbing hold of the branches at first. I rescued him several times from falling. Finally he held on by himself and eventually flew away.
I hope my pictures will inspire others to appreciate their beauty and do everything they can to promote their health and habitat!
