Description
Beau was my mom and dad's dog. Although they both loved him dearly and he loved them both, it was my dad who walked him twice a day, every day. Beau had them very well trained to give him his treats at the exact time every day. He finished their coffee, their cookies, their ice cream...well, you get the point, he was a bit spoiled. He had a good life. All the neighbors knew Beau and my dad. Like clockwork they circled the block at 7:00am and 4:15pm. If it rained, dad carried an umbrella. If it snowed he wore galoshes. If he was sick, he went anyway. If he was in the hospital, I walked with Beau and lately sometimes a friend from their retirement center would walk him. Since Beau was 14 and dad is in his eighties, the walks were a bit slower the past few years and dad would carry a bottle of water to give to Beau half way around. They were quite a pair. Beau died last week. Any dog owner knows the pain. I wanted to share Beau with folks here just to celebrate the life of a good and loyal companion and yes, mom and dad, he is a handsome boy!
As the final note on this image, I sadly have to say that Dad did not last long after his beloved Beau died, only five months. Mom followed them only three months later. There is some comfort knowing that they are enjoying their walks together once again.
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
Mom and Dad loved the earth. They were passionate defenders of the environment. They knew the names of every flower, every plant, every bird and animal. Dad knew every butterfly we ever saw. They loved "all creatures great and small" and so it is in their honor that I will donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND..... the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance! I'm sure my folks are watching from their heavenly home and hoping that mankind can save this wonderful gift loaned to us called Earth!

What a wonderful homage to your Mom and Dads dog. Beau was Beau-tiful. Unconditional love given, and received. Eternally walking together.
Karen Adams replied:
So true, Greg . . . the three of them were buried together . . . but knowing my dad & his dog, they are not resting! They are somewhere walking
