Description
Eastern Tiger Swallowtails are a well known butterfly. The big yellow butterfly with black stripes seems to be an easy one to identify (not to be confused with the larger Giant Swallowtail.) Many people may think that every one will look exactly alike, but there are a surprising variety of these. This particular one did not have as much blue along the dorsal side of the hindwings. This one is in pretty good shape except for a tear on one wing and missing one of his tails shows a bit of wear from some rough encounter! Those 'swallow - tails' are meant as safety just like a football player's tear-away jersey. They help them to escape the clutches of the 'enemy!' This one really loved all the tall purple verbena flowers in my garden!
I am so thankful to go out into my Ohio garden and find peace and tranquility. For me, butterflies are gentle reminders that we are loved by a Greater Power and that I am never truly alone in this world.
I really appreciate you taking time to look at my artwork. Thank you so much!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
