A Bee feeds on a lovely Globe thistle ( botanical name: Echinops ritro, a member of the Aster family.) I love these large spiky perennial flowers that appear in early summer. I love the silvery blue/lavender color and spiky texture these globes make standing tall above other delicate flowers.
The plants are native to Asia and Europe and the name means hedgehog in Greek! . . . quite an appropriate name for these prickly blooms.
