Description
I want to add a new link to my story of Bluebirds. My sister and her husband rode out a terrifying night in their laundry room while Hurricane Irma passed over their Florida Home. When she finally felt safe to come out and stand by a window to look out, she was thrilled to see her trees still standing . . . . and in one of those trees sat a bluebird!
"When nature made the bluebird she wished to propitiate both the sky and the earth, so she gave him the color of the one on his back and the hue of the other on his breast." ~ John Burroughs
I came across this saying recently and it had much more power for me now than when I originally took this photo. Bluebirds have become a link between my family and our departed parents. The morning that our mother lay very frail and ill, a little male bluebird came into our lives. For some reason that bird kept tapping at our windows, something that hadn't happened before that day, nor since. I was busy, but finally my brother and sister said, "What is going on with this bird?" We looked out the window to see the male bird fly over to my bird feeder. There he joined his mate. We hurried up to mom's apartment and she died within hours. We all believe somehow Dad was telling us that Mom was with him now and everything is ok. Whenever I see a Bluebird now, I think of mom and dad together and I know there are greater things at work in this world than I can understand.
I originally described this image this way:
A Bluebird balances on a branch on a cold winter day in Ohio. He is fluffed up as big as he can be trying to stay warm on a very cold day! On days like this, I always wish I could invite the birds in so they can stay warm!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
