Description
This is the forewing and hindwing of a Common Buckeye butterfly. Some of these little guys are quite pale and do not have a lot of color to them. they are somewhat small butterflies, compared to Swallowtails anyway, but I still have an argument with calling them common! As you can see in this one, there is a lot of soft delicate color...with blues that are iridescent. The eyespots are a type of protection to fake predators out that they are a larger creature than they actually are. This square format of the Buckeye butterfly wing shows the subtle beauty of these amazing little creatures.
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
