Description
This photo was taken on a wonderful September afternoon in Ohio as I chased a couple of Orange Sulphur butterflies around my backyard garden. Wildflowers were still in full bloom and many bees and butterflies were enjoying a long summer. I loved the softness of this scene of the lemony yellow of the delicate butterfly on top of the pastel pink Zinnia flower. He paused here for several seconds giving me a chance to click a few shots off of this wonderful moment with nature!
Some other common names of this butterfly, (Colias eurytheme,) are Alfalfa butterfly and Pink-edged sulphur. The Orange Sulphur is a butterfly of the family Pieridae, where it belongs to the lowland group of "clouded yellows and sulphurs" (subfamily Coliadinae.)

Karen what a wonderful eye you have , when looking at this capture i noticed that the edge of the butterfly wings are the same colour as the flower .Mother nature sure is sweet :)
Karen Adams replied:
That is a great point you mention, Sally . . . some actually call this the pink-edged sulphur butterfly! Thank you so much for your comment!

Appropriately named, those tissue-like wings of the butterfly are very eye-catching, as are the pastel colors! So lovely, Karen! l/f
