Description
Christmas cactus, Thanksgiving cactus or Easter cactus are all the same plant and true to their names, just may bloom at Easter, and or Thanksgiving and or Christmas! Such a wonderful plant indeed! This year though, I am viewing holidays in a whole new way . . . being isolated from loved ones and actually losing loved ones . . . puts these festive times in new perspectives. I see them happening . . . I see the beauty . . . I see the lights and decorations . . . I hear the "Merry" this, the "Happy" that . . . but I don't feel it . . . . I feel that I am viewing it through a cloudy window. I'm seeing the joy from afar . . . . and I think there are a lot of people feeling this way this year. The holidays are a blur . . . somethings are in focus, but much of this is a blur . . . at some time it will come back into focus . . . but for now . . . it is a hazy memory of joy . . . it is also a very precious gift . . . from this point on I will try to remember how it feels to not be filled with joy when everyone says you should be . . . I will try to be even more aware of folks who don't get new cars in their driveway Christmas morning . . . I will pray for all those who have to live through their first Holiday without a loved one . . . may 2020 bless us all with this awareness and compassion for each other . . . may we all learn to focus on loving one another!
