Description
I felt lucky to capture this lovely female Mallard duck coming in for a landing at a local Columbus park. Air traffic controllers seemed to have fallen asleep at the controls here though because her flight path put her dangerously close to the unsuspecting one floating below. . . . so, of course, you know what I did!
I shouted, "DUCK!"
Duck on a Lake
Sometimes I feel like a duck on a lake
Frantically paddling wondering how long it’ll take
A frenzy beneath the surface smooth
So little time, so much to do.
The apparent surface calm won’t long last
From the stress of hurriedly trying to get there fast
But not really knowing what or where ‘there’ is.
Too sharp a focus begets obliviousness
My journey stirs V-shaped ripples to form
Paddling through sunshine and storm
What lies behind me in the Kelvin wake?
Will anyone remember this old duck on a lake?
