Description
My Dad was a man of deep faith. He lived his life trying to be kind to everyone he met. He and mom would chat with receptionists, waitresses and waiters, nurses, doctors, home repair folks, anyone who they dealt with for even just a few minutes. Many times to my embarrassment, they would ask about their lives, where they were from, etc. And somehow when they saw these people again, they would remember some fact about them. I have rambled, but my point is, my folks felt a connection to every other person on earth. They loved others and served their faith each and every day. They were very active church goers and of course, dad was a talented artist. When the church needed a cross for a remodeled sanctuary, Dad volunteered to spend hours carving this beautiful cross.
He carefully researched symbols of faith and incorporated carvings of a sea shell, grapes and a descending dove into his design. I still have his sketches for each of the cross corners. When I look at this image, I see a symbol of Christianity and think of the sacrifice that was made for each of us. I also see a symbol of two lives lived in service to the world and a deep love and kindness for others.
Thank you so much for taking time to look through my images and collections. I really appreciate your time!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
