Description
Every Spring, I cut my tall ornamental grasses down. They have served their purpose loyally through the spring, summer, autumn and winter: from young green shoots, to tall strong green sculptures that then fade to tan and brave the winds and rain of Fall and snows of winter. They are a staple of my garden that I can enjoy year round and only have to tend to once a year.
In the Autumn these wonderful plumes appear. Each year I just find them magical. They are soft and delicate, yet stand sturdy against the strongest winds. I think this 'sepia-grey' version really highlights the texture of these feathers in the field!
You can also see a color version of this same image. Which do you like better?
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

These are so pretty. I always try to capture them, but never have turned out as well as this! Really nice capture! v

I agree. There is something really cool about these in person, but it is hard to capture in a 2-d image for some reason. I took a lot of shots to get to this one that I like! Thanks, Fran
