Description
These are Chinese Forget Me Not flowers which are more of a wildflower than a garden bloom of the better known common Forget-Me-Nots (Myosotis sylvatica.) Their scientific name is Cynoglossum nervosum.
The Chinese forget-me-nots have large, hairy, rough leaves that grow on stems up to 30 inches high. They are topped with many sprays of 3/5-inch, gentian-blue flowers that bloom in July that lasted to the end of October in my Ohio garden (with a mild Fall.) I planted them in my wildflower area in a package of seed designed to attract butterflies. Although I never saw a butterfly on them this year, I am hoping to have more next summer and see what they may attract! In any case, I love their tiny delicate beauty!
