Finally we had a rainy day! My Ohio neighborhood had been going through a long dry spell in a hot August. Approaching storms would appear on radar only to magically disappear. We were getting tired of dragging garden hoses around in desperate attempts to keep some things alive and blooming. Brown grass crunched beneath our feet.
And then, what a wonderful blessing! We woke to a grey day and the clouds granted our many wishes of a day long soaking rain! it even rained into the night.
The next morning I walked in my yard of fresh green grass and the flowers seemed to have sprung back to life! It seemed as though I was an uninvited guest to a secret garden party. Many of the flowers had their finest jewelry on as they celebrated the wonderful gift from Heaven; rain!
This is a macro shot of tall purple Verbena, one of my very very favorite plants! You will see it is in many of my butterfly shots. It is truly a butterfly magnet!

Karen...the Photography on this is MAGNIFICENT! Our verbena is not so vibrant...going on over one month of drought...even though we water, it’s not the same as rainwater! You captured the raindrops and verbena beautifully! L/F
