Description
George Washington Had quite a beautiful home at Mt Vernon. This great man had many interests. Mount Vernon, his home and burial place is located in Fairfax county, Virginia, overlooking the Potomac River, 15 miles south of Washington, D.C. The main house is an 18th-century two-story Georgian mansion built of wood, but given the appearance of large stone blocks by mixing sand with paint on the carefully carved thick boards. He designed the landscape at Mount Vernon, but used slave labor to maintain it. He grew edible herbs and plants on the inside of beds bordered with lovely flowering plants and rows of low boxwoods. He experimented with varieties of plants to find ones that would thrive on his estate. Large Magnolias testify to his skill at doing just this.
I'm sure the horses at George's mansion were well cared for by looking at this relatively comfortable home for them!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
