Description
Gray Hairstreak butterflies are quite small, but boy do they pack a lot of beauty in their tiny beings. I love their dotted antennae and the silky silvery powder gray wings lined with delicate black designs and bright spots of orange. The top tips of their wings are lined in that same orange. They are usually less than an inch in size so you really have to look closely to see them! Small, but numerous. They are quite common in Ohio and most of the eastern United States and again on the west coast. It is one of the most common hairstreak butterflies. It occurs also throughout Central America and in northern South America.
