Description
Our Destin vacation home came complete with a little pet: a Green Anole lizard. He seemed to enjoy watching us play in the water, the splashing, the swimming, the balls being thrown, the laughter. Most especially though, he really seemed to enjoy when we had music playing! I swear he seemed to bob his head with the rhythm of lively dance music! Who can stand still when summer beach music is filling the air??
Green anole is an arboreal anole lizard native to the southeastern United States. Green anoles are the only breed of anole native to the United States.
Other common names include the American green anole, American anole, and red-throated anole. These pretty little lizards have emerald green backs and pink "dewlaps" (pouches under their chins). An occasional anole may even have a blue tint. They are also known for their ability to change colors from green to brown and back again (although they are not true chameleons). They are often found running around and basking in the sun in the Southeastern United States and islands in the Caribbean as well as in terrariums as pets!
Scientific name: Anolis carolinensis
Class: Reptilia
Order: Squamata
Family: Dactyloidae
Phylum: Chordata
Green anole lizards are common pet lizards that live about four years..
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
