Description
I have taken the liberty to play with color on this wonderful Heliconia plant. The shapes are just so strong, I thought the colors could be quite bold too.
This is a tropical plant that I enjoy visiting at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus, Ohio. Common names for the genus include lobster-claws, wild plantains or false bird-of-paradise. The last term refers to their close similarity to the bird-of-paradise flowers (Strelitzia). They certainly are a stunning plant.
Thank you so much for taking time to look through my images and collections. I really appreciate your time!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
