Description
I took my grand-daughter and my little old dog for a walk the other day. The Fall sky was bright blue with just tiny tufts of cotton looking clouds floating by. It was cold and I was wishing my little old dog's legs could move just a tiny bit faster. We were really moving at a snail's pace, but it gave me time to pay attention to the beauty of the day around me. As we walked, I looked up and saw one tiny brilliant red leaf still hanging on to the very top of a maple tree. I did not have my camera. By the time we slowly had made our way back home, I was pretty sure that leaf would have blown away, but I loaded the baby and the dog in my van and headed back to catch, (what I thought) was just so beautiful and even inspirational! I am so happy I did. The next day we got an inch of snow!
This was taken almost two years ago. My little old pup is no longer with me and it makes this image even more special....because I probably would never have seen this solitary leaf without her help. She made me slow down. She forced me to look. She forced me to see. I really miss my dear dear friend and the many lessons she taught me over almost 16 years. Appreciate today. Do not take anything for granted!
