These blue hydrangeas are especially meaningful to me since they were used in the wedding of one of my daughters. They are beautiful on their own, but these bring back wonderful memories of a very special day. For me they have become a symbol of love.
During these cold. long days of winter though, this picture is also a symbol of what is to come. Just hold on a bit longer and the beauty of Spring and then Summer will be here!
These plants are found in many areas of the world, including China, Japan, the Himalayas and the Americas. Such an interesting plant because the type of soil can make the blooms either pinkish tones or blues and purples. The more acidic the soil the more likely to have bluish blossoms. An alkaline soil will produce the pinkish spectrum. This is interesting to me, since I love to garden, but as a thing of beauty, I love how this hydrangea has blue, lavender and pink blushes all in one!
