A leaf is me
The most simple of complex things
Insignificantly important
I am the stage for floral performers
I am shelter for many
I am food for more
I may cure an ill
Or I may kill
I can provide protection
I can be a place to hide
I clean the air around me
I shade the soil beneath me
I give joy to those who look
When I fall I may cause work
In decay I enrich the earth
I am life
Life is me
Leaf me be.
