I was so excited the morning of the 4th of July! No, not because we were having a picnic later that day, no not because it was a day off from work (Although I was pretty happy about that,) not for anticipation of fireworks....No, I was excited because I saw a Monarch Butterfly in my garden! Last year was a very bad year, with only one or two showing up in my garden. News reports were saying their numbers were dropping quickly. It is also a bit early to see a Monarch around here. They usually don't appear until a little later in the summer.....So I was EXCITED to see this beautiful hopeful promise that more will come.....and maybe they are hardier than we think and they can survive what mankind is doing to them!

Nice capture; like the angle of the flower and butterfly -- almost as though the weight of the butterfly was too much for the flower stem.
