Description
It is mid-October in Ohio and only a few butterflies linger in my garden now. I went out early in the morning to set up the sprinkler, hoping to keep a few late bloomers blooming. As the water started to spurt out, a wonderful Monarch butterfly floated gently over my head and landed on a bare lilac just out of reach of the falling sprays of mist. She rested there with wings outstretched, giving me a beautiful dorsal view of her majesty. Of course, I sprinted inside (well, I'm old, but I will still say 'sprinted') to get my camera. Holding my breath that she would still be there. When I got back outside, I was so happy to see she had not moved. I got two clicks of the shutter before she lifted off again and flew up into the cool blue sky and flew away.
What wonderful gifts I receive each day and I am so thankful for them!
