Description
If a Monarch could sing, this is what it would look like! Ha ha, that really makes no sense, but I just thought this one seemed to sing, "Tah-duh! I am amazing!" This scene was taken back in 2011 in my Ohio garden. I could stand out there many mornings or afternoons and have a dozen or more butterflies fluttering around. These were my early days of paying attention to butterflies and trying to take pictures of them. I did not realize at the time, just how lucky I was to have several subjects to capture at any given moment. There were Swallowtails, Buckeyes, Monarchs, Viceroys, Skippers, Painted Ladies, Cabbage Whites, Sulphurs and Frittilaries . . . and I am leaving some out!
I am not really sure what has changed . . . . more houses . . . the climate . . . . but there are definitely not as many butterflies in my garden anymore even though I continue planting butterfly hosts and attracters! I love to look at these early photos that I took (with my old camera) . . . I had kind of forgotten I had these in my files . . . . but I am bringing them out of retirement and showing them off . . . for the beauty that I so loved not so long ago!!!
I hope you enjoy my early work here and do whatever you can in your yard or garden to help out our beautiful friends!
