Description
I would always see this old barn when I would go up to Delaware, Ohio to visit my folks at their retirement center. My dad was a wonderful artist all his life and stayed very healthy and active. This past August he had a stroke that robbed him of his ability to speak. It was devastating and very difficult. One day I had to take him to the hospital for a follow-up appointment and we drove by this old barn. I told him that someday I wanted to stop and take a picture of it. He immediately began figuring out where I could park my car to be safe and where I could stand to get my shots. It was broken words, but we did have a wonderful moment of communication which, looking back was such a precious and special moment. A couple of weeks later I went back and took the shots, parking where he had suggested and being safe where he thought I would be safe. I was able to show him these images on his laptop and he was delighted with them. He died in November and I miss him so, but this always takes me back to that day we worked together to get this image: an old red barn resting under the moon at dusk.

Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Stunning capture, the sky seems to have lighter shade of the barn's color, very pretty.

I love barn landscape images! Your story is touching. Reminds me of a time when I had to fly to Indiana and get my mom and we had such a fabulous road trip home. She had went into a diabetic state and didn't know where she was and the people in that little town rallied around her and helped her at the hospital. Our road trip home was so much fun, stopping along the way to photograph some crazy scenes, like roadside art, etc. I can relate. I'm sorry for your loss, but remember always the memories! Congratulations on your feature in Women Photographers!

What is about old buildings, especially barns? I think the expanse of lawn and the moon at the top enhance the feeling considerably. You do good work.
