Description
Well, I was not really happy to have a little raccoon eating my birdseed in my garden yesterday, but I was really not thrilled to see this little guy out there this morning! Raccoons are kind of cute, but only a mommy opossum could love this face. There also seems to be no way to scare a hungry opossum away from a bunch of sunflower seeds scattered all over the ground. I am trying to console myself that I am helping a couple of very hungry critters during a very harsh winter. I just hope the birds aren't scared away for too long!
Thank you so much for taking time to look through my images and collections. I really appreciate your time!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Poor opossums are under-rated. I think he has a delightful face! :-)
Karen Adams replied:
Yes, I think he could be thought of as cute here, until you see his sharp little teeth!....That's when I decided I didn't think he was that cute! ha ha

Ah Karen! I have to say good for you for being so kind and tolerant....allowing this little guy a meal in the midst of a cold winter. I agree, he wouldn't win a beauty contest but there's something about his look that melts my heart. Life is so hard out there for all the critters. Karen, you have captured this opossum with such clarity! And the light is perfect! What a great shot. This photo is National Geographic quality, but I wonder if they would ever do an article on opossums??!!! L/F

My cat Feather met one of these in our back yard and her tail was so big....talk about being scared....these creatures are nearly blind and they have very sharp teeth!!! Hope you didn't go near!
