Description
The Painted Turtle is one of the most widespread and abundant turtle species in the USA and Canada and one seems to be trying to raise her family in my backyard! Almost daily we find holes where she has dug, but it is rare for us to ever see little babies. We are a distance from the wetlands and up a steep wooded bank so if she does have babies, they are in for a rough journey!
