Description
This is one of the first series of Pipevine Swallowtails that I took....back in 2012. I really wish at that time I would have known how seldom I would be lucky enough to see this variety. Somehow, I was able to capture it in mid-flight, which is shown by some blur, but I still love this shot so much.
My love of butterflies grew from the sharing of that joy from my dad, George Wood. He knew every butterfly (and bird) and even in his 80s he would get excited when I would show him what butterflies I was able to 'capture' in my Ohio garden. He would immediately tell me the name and many times have some story to go along with that. I wish I knew back in 2012, that I wouldn't be able to share those joys with him for much longer either. I certainly would have tried to memorize every detail, every word . . . but I still have that wonderful blessed feeling and that will stay with me forever!
These delicate creatures are strong links in the chain that tie us to our Earth and our history and ancestors. I think that is why I am so passionate about saving our Earth and all of its creatures.
Thank you so much for looking at my artwork here. I truly appreciate your time!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Thanks, Nancy . . . can't believe it was seven years ago that I really started taking photos of butterflies
