Description
This image is a soft watercolor effect to a photo I took several years ago of a lovely purple iris.
Irises are lovely, tall, elegant, and regale. They are some of my very favorite flowers in my perennial garden. They seem to love the weather of Central Ohio and require being divided every few years. The word Iris is derived from a Greek word that means "rainbow" because there are so many species of irises in so many wonderful colors. They are perennial flowers that grow from rhizomes that can be seen right at soil level. An Iris has tall pointy leaves that stand tall and erect and add a nice feature even when the flowers are not blooming. The symmetrical flowers are made up of six petals. Many species have three lobes that stand upward and three that bend down. They can be adorned with veining, lines or dots. This one has a fuzzy center to the downward facing petals which is why this species is known as "Bearded iris."
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
