I took this on the same day I took my "Barking Up a Tree" series and I am thinking this was a Maple tree. Being a street tree, it faces more duress than other trees, I think. Lack of attention and water seems common for these wonderful additions to neighborhoods that give us shade and the graceful feel of tree-lined streets. Neighbors tend to complain in the Fall when they have to rake those leaves. The leaves that for many months hang over our heads and give us respite from scorching summer sun and give birds a place to hide their nests. Leaves that give us brilliant oranges, reds and yellows to celebrate the passing from summer into winter. Trees are my friends and I am more than happy to rake some leaves in the Fall for the joy they give throughout the year.
Trees are my friend. They do not talk, but I can hear them, as I believe if you have read this far, you hear them too . . . we can read between the lines. Trees are our friend.
