Description
I have lived in Columbus, Ohio a very long time, and I have never seen this bird before. He spent about an hour in my backyard one grey afternoon, allowing me to get a few shots of him before he 'took off!' I had to look up what type of bird he was. He is actually in the Cardinal family and is listed as a large insect-eating songbird. Unfortunately, I did not hear him sing, but he is such a beauty! Once you see one of these guys, you keep looking for them. They are such a handsome and striking bird, with beautiful markings! They spend time in cooler weather in North America and then migrate to more tropical parts in winter. So this summer, I will continue watching and waiting.

They are everywhere in Michigan, they come to the feeders here all winter, and are really fun to watch.

Oh Karen what a beautiful capture of the Grosbeak. Would love to get a photo of one of these birds but never see them in my area. F/L Ruth
