Description
I hope you can feel the peaceful quiet of this moment in my garden. It was early and many of my friends and neighbors were not up and around yet. The only slow movement was that of my pup sniffing around the wet blades of grass beneath my feet. This Rose of Sharon flower seemed to be lifting up a prayer of thanksgiving for the start of another beautiful day here on Earth. The feeling actually made me move quietly so I would not disturb the moment, and I slowly moved on with joy in my heart!
When I was young, we had a Rose of Sharon bush in our yard and I loved it! I think these flowers have a tropical look to them, but they are hardy enough to thrive in Ohio through the roughest of winters. And so, when I had a big yard of my own, I planted a dozen of these; four white, four pink and four blue. They now soar far above my head and form a beautiful wall of color between mine and my neighbor's house. I actually now have a few new ones which have popped up in other spots of my yard as well! I especially love that Rose of Sharon flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Their beauty is hard to beat!
"Hibiscus syriacus is a species of flowering plant in the mallow family, Malvaceae. It is native to south-central and southeast China, but widely introduced elsewhere, including much of Asia. It was given the epithet syriacus because it had been collected from gardens in Syria." (Wikipedia)
Scientific name: Hibiscus syriacus
Higher classification: Rosemallows
Flower Color: White, red, lavender, or light blue
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
