Description
When my dad died, for several weeks, I kept hearing a song from my childhood in my head. I don't think I had thought of it in years. It was "Moon River" by Andy Williams. I looked up the words and tears flowed. My parents had been married for 62 years and the line about two drifters off to see the world just seemed so perfect to describe their lives together. Looking through their albums one day, I was startled to see in the first page of one, a postcard of Andy Williams! Tucked behind the picture of this great singer were two tickets of the show Mom and Dad had gone to years ago. I never knew they had seen Andy Williams! The tickets showed the name of the tour to be "Moon River."
Moon River
Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way
Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me
My parents journey together took them many places and they made so many dear friends along the way. They loved each other, they loved live, they loved others and the loved this earth . . . . I am sure they are loving Heaven as well...
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Ohh Karen, now my eyes are full. This photo, the words to the song, very emotional. My dad will have left us six years ago this month, on St. Patrick's Day of all days. My mom many years before as she suffered terribly from a disease. They were together for many years, and are together now forever. This image of the shoes here, it's deeply moving, and your post is a very beautiful tribute. I am sure they have found their 'Moon River' and live in eternal bliss. May it be so.

What a beautiful story. I believe those who we love have ways to let us know they are with us. Sounds like your dad did this. Peace be with you. cindy
Karen Adams replied:

One of my favorite songs (ever) and it is such a loving tribute to your father to share these moments from his life. I'm trying to write a family history and so I am sorting through old photos etc. also. Hugs.

I like the pov on this a lot and the flash/lighting accentuates the subject just right - excellent work - great story too
