They say you don't know a person until you have walked a mile in their shoes. I have always thought that is such a good saying to remember, but I will even go one step farther (pun intended!) I think it is of at least equal value to try to view the world through another's eyes. This is a very difficult thing to do, except when talking about artists! That is pretty much the whole point of those of us who create visual art. Music, of course is equally powerful, moving and enlightening. And, so there is the value of art in society! People can try to share their truths in many many ways, and all of those methods are valuable in our understanding of each other; of humanity.
