Description
Columbus, Ohio is blessed to be home to the beautiful Franklin Park Conservatory. All year long, one can visit this wonderland of native or exotic plants. The settings are beautifully composed and it is such a peaceful place to wander. For the past 21 years, during much of the spring and summer months, Columbus is excited about the Butterfly exhibit at the Conservatory, known as Blooms and Butterflies. Here you can walk through such a serene and lovely setting with gorgeous exotic butterflies fluttering all about you!
This particular beauty is the Tropical Hecale Butterfly resting on a beautiful Latana flower. The main family is known as Polymorphic Longwing butterflies, or Heliconius Hecale. They live in forested areas, mainly in the region from Mexico to Bolivia. These butterflies have a very delicate fluttering flight, particularly when hovering around flowers. They commonly nectar at Hamelia, Lantana and Palicourea.
Unlike other butterflies, Heliconius females feed on pollen as well as nectar. The Polymorphic Longwing is certainly a stunning butterfly!!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
