Description
Well, these two lovely Damsels are not in distress, just in the grass! These are Blue-tailed damselflies, I believe. Damselflies are insects of the suborder Zygoptera in the order Odonata. They are similar to dragonflies, but are smaller with slimmer bodies. I find it helpful to remember the difference between dragonflies and damselflies by the fact that the damselflies usually fold their wings along the body when at rest (sort of like how a lady sits compared to a gentleman.) An ancient group, damselflies have existed since at least the Lower Permian, and are found on every continent except Antarctica.
I really appreciate you taking time to look at my artwork. Thank you so much!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
