Description
When I was in college I had plenty of time to paint, but very little time to garden. I grew some house plants with my roommates and somehow those plants made it through along with us! I have always seen personality in plants and tried to capture that here. I love bold colors . . . and so these beautiful Dieffenbachia leaves have a vivid red background to shine with! They are beautiful to look at, but also beware of these. The common name for this plant is "dumb cane" referring to the poisoning effect of raphides, which can cause temporary inability to speak and can make swallowing difficult. It is sometimes also called "mother-in-laws tongue."
I did a series of similar paintings of plants that look nice in a grouping. You can find others in my Series Gallery.
