Description
You may think this is a Monarch butterfly, but it is actually a Viceroy butterfly. It mimics the look of the poisonous Monarch as an adaption to survive! However this species is in danger of extinction due to the loss of habitat. I have only seen one in the few years I have been actively searching for butterflies in my garden. Before we just randomly cut back 'weeds' in fields and spray pesticides everywhere, mankind needs to do a better job of thinking about the affect of our actions upon all creatures that inhabit this beautiful earth!
I would love to see more Viceroys!
Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!
