Description
This is a black and white version of the original color image "Vintage Rotary Phone." If you took a picture of it back in the day, this is how it would have looked . . . once you got the film developed!!
Well, I am old enough to remember the days when the exchange of your phone number was not known by numbers, but by letters. This old telephone was in the Turner exchange, so one would say their phone number was, "Turner # - #### or 88# - #### . . . ( and I date myself again! That symbol # means a number here, not hashtag!)
It took patience to dial a rotary dial phone . . . especially if the numbers were 8s and 9s . . . our phone number started with 888 . . . so you really needed to pay attention when calling it! It is also almost impossible to think that when the phone rang, you had no idea who was calling . . . and if you didn't answer, you never would! As a young teen waiting for call from that 'special someone' meant staying at home and waiting! . . . and if you wanted to call 'long distance' you waited until after 11:00 when the rates went down!
There is a lot I do miss about 'the good old days,' but the phone service is definitely not one of them! . . . . It is fun to remember and appreciate what we have today!

Thank you so much for looking at my images. I appreciate that very much.
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Great capture of this relic of days long past, Karen. We've come a long way in our methods of communication, that's for sure! f/l.

Love the capture, Karen! A number of years ago my daughter saw a rotary dial phone at an older relative's house. She was so excited about seeing one in 'real life' but had no idea how to use it, lol.
