Description
I may have put text on this image for me, as much as for anyone! I always think I will remember the names of all the fascinating creatures I take pictures of . . . but I still call my puppy the wrong name . . . so just to be safe . . . this image is labeled with the common name and proper name . . . so we can all remember!
This simple shot was actually a pretty difficult one to get. This beautiful little moth is no bigger than the nail on my little finger . . . maybe 3/8" wingtip to wingtip . . . so it is small! He was resting in a corner of my garage which made it quite a trick to get my camera close enough to it, without scaring it and be able to focus. I was balancing on a step stool and a step into the house with the garage door open to give me more light. I am pretty sure the neighbors think I am one strange lady!
Anyway, It is such a sweet little charmer called a Wavy Lined Emerald Moth. The proper name is Synchlora aerata. I love how a macro lens can reveal so much about a creature too tiny for my eyes to really make out their detail and design. It is such a great way to explore the world and not even have to leave home!!
I have several versions of this capture. This one is a vertical format with text. To see all versions, please check them out in my Series Gallery.
