Description
I could have easily missed seeing him . . . in fact, I probably have missed seeing hundreds of these through the years! This simple shot was actually a pretty difficult one to get. This beautiful little moth is no bigger than the nail on my little finger . . . maybe 3/8" wingtip to wingtip . . . so it is small! He was resting in a corner of my garage which made it quite a trick to get my camera close enough to it, without scaring it and be able to focus. I was balancing on a step stool and a step into the house with the garage door open to give me more light. I am pretty sure the neighbors think I am one strange lady!
Anyway, It is such a sweet little charmer called a Wavy Lined Emerald Moth. The proper name is Synchlora aerata. I love how a macro lens can reveal so much about a creature too tiny for my eyes to really make out their detail and design. It is such a great way to explore the world and not even have to leave home!! I hope you may see one of these around you some time too!
I have several versions of this capture. This one is square with a simple white background. To see all versions, please check them out in my Series Gallery.

I've never seen a moth like this. So pretty. Great find. Nicely composed. l/v

This moth is so small! Wing tip to wing tip I'd say it was about 1/2" So they are hard to spot! Thanks for your comment, Emmy
