Description
When I take a walk with a child or with my dog, we stop a lot. The child wants to look at every tiny thing, pick it up, examine it and ask at least 50 questions before becoming bored and moving on. My dog, on the other had, has never met a thing that she doesn't want to smell at great length and for long periods of time! Usually, I finally pull on the leash and make her keep moving so that our walks don't stretch into hours . . . . but sometimes, when I am smart, I look at what they are investigating so intently and soon I am seeing the world through their wonderful eyes, (I still refuse to sniff things though!)
When I do start looking around, there is almost always something really beautiful just sitting in front of me. I have walked by this guardrail almost daily for a dozen years. It had been a wet drizzly day and the rain had finally stopped just before dusk so my pup and I hurried out to get a quick walk in. As usual, she wanted to stop at the bridge and smell . . . and that is when I finally looked down and saw this. Every day there are gifts along the way. I need to remind myself to not miss the present!
I read this quote the other day and really liked it:
"Grandkids.....take you back to childhood. Theirs, the parents', your own:

I really appreciate you taking time to look at my artwork. Thank you so much!
I am very concerned with our environment and have decided to donate any money I make from any sales of this image to the ENVIRONMENTAL DEFENSE FUND.....because the Earth needs a good lawyer! We all need to speak up and support efforts to protect our environment. We will not get a second chance!

Believe it or not, my cat shows me what to look at....and really what to try to smell. She is very dog like, really nose in the air ....you can see her analyzing the oncoming wind. She brings her world to me.
Karen Adams replied:
I believe that, Nancy! I just hope she doesn't bring presents home to you from outside...I know some cats like to gift their owners with their captures!!
