It was a very cold gray winter's day in Ohio. There was a peaceful stillness in the air. The sun tried to break through the gloom of clouds, but only able to give a soft light on the still afternoon. In spite of the freezing temperatures, there was frantic activity at my backyard bird feeder. A short distance from the chaos of those several hungry birds, sat one single tiny female American Goldfinch on a bare River Birch branch. As she fluffed her feathers trying to wring some warmth out of the day, she casually glanced at me . . . . and we had a gentle moment of knowing each other.

Karen: This Goldfinch you captured is a beautiful small bird. You captured its feather & eye details perfectly. The background is blurred setting the mood of the entire photograph as a work of art. This is the work of a great photographer. VERY well done. WE were happy to "L/F" this image plus we are now "following" you. Bill & Deb Hayes
