In the summer of 1992, Columbus, Ohio hosted a huge event to celebrate the 500 year anniversary of Christopher Columbus sailing to the Americas. This was held at the Franklin Park and Conservatory and was a fantastic place to go all summer long! Of course, the flowers and gardens are spectacular anyway, but somehow they managed to make them even more so that year.
In the middle of all this beauty were really fun concerts! My husband and I went to see Three Dog Night once and BJ Thomas just to name a couple of them.
Located near the west entrance is Stephen Canneto's thirty-foot-tall sculpture NavStar; its stainless steel billowing sails represent Christopher Columbus's three ships. If you ever visit Columbus, Ohio do not miss the Franklin Park and Conservatory!
