The image fits perfectly with your well thought out message. I agree. I have a son who installs cable. He works through hot and cold, but now that he has seniority, he often wires the inside of commercial buildings.

Karen Adams replied:

thanks so much, Pat. and be sure to tell your son I appreciate his efforts inside or out!

Nice capture Karen and your description was great. I really enjoyed listening to Glen Campbell and Jimmy Webb wrote some memorable songs. I like to think I can still hear my late wife “Singing in the wires”.

Karen Adams replied:

Dear Terry, I totally get that . . . some lines in songs really hit us in our hearts . . . the song is about longing for someone and I know we both do.

Artist's Description

Facts: "Multiple spools wound with colorful ropes or cables are mounted on a weathered industrial machine. The central mechanism appears to include a chain drive, suggesting that the spools may be rotated or controlled by this device."

Feelings: Once again, out walking with my pup, I noticed these spools of cables hanging from a newly erected utility pole along a country road. The first day I walked by, the cables were brightly colored and glowed in the sun light. Two weeks later they had faded already and looked old and maybe a bit tired.

This made me think of the workers involved with stringing these miles and miles of cable and the hard work that they do. It is good to not take things like this for granted, but to be grateful for the efforts of the workers who sweat and strain or freeze and struggle to provide things we mostly take for granted. If you are around my age, you will know a beautiful song sung by the great Glen Campbell, The Wichita Lineman (wr...
