Spring is having a rough time getting started in Ohio this year. I wonder, if it is because so many of us are quarantined at home and SO anxious for warm weather to get here? We will occasionally have a couple of warm days in a row. I will carry my house plants out and place them around the garden to enjoy the fresh air . . . and then frantically rush around late in the evening when I realize it will get cold again that night! I imagine the amusement of my parents in Heaven & whoever else is watching me, because it seems I never learn my lesson. I like to think I am just an optimist (and not just a fool!)


And when I see robins appearing in March I always think to myself, "OH dear, you have come back too soon! You will get cold!" . . . . and they always do . . . it always snows and get blustery late March and early April . . . but they persist . . . and so do I! After all, one of these days when I take my plants out, I will be able to leave them there!

In folklore, the American Robin is symbolic of impending warmer weather and is believed to be a harbinger of Spring. The sight of “robin redbreast” on suburban lawns after the retreat of a snow or cold snap in February or early March, is happy news in the waning days of winter.
