Product Details

Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Artist's Description

Wabi-Sabi is an idea that exists in Japanese philosophy, which is the act of embracing the flawed or the imperfect. "Perfection is through imperfection." The struggle with the concept of perfection is seen in many Japanese art forms. This is an underlying philosophy behind the pottery art of kintsugi. Instead of throwing away broken pieces of a shattered vase or jar, parts are mended back together with gold lacquer. They highlight and celebrate the broken imperfection instead of discarding it.

I really love contemplating these concepts. The article, 'The Japanese Art of Kintsugi: Perfection is imperfection' by Ryan Landes-Gilman is thought-provoking for sure. I love this statement in his article,
"Perfection, as it is portrayed in the Western media, is not perfection. There is no perfect love, no perfect beauty. But, without the presence of imperfections, the wonders of the world would not be so breathtaking." Amen to that!
