Description
A simple image, but a lot to see when you look into the circle!
I grew up in a household that celebrated the beauty of glass. My dad worked for Federal Glass 1950s-1979. He traveled to other countries, sometimes with my mom getting to tag along, to get inspiration for new forms of beauty in glass. He then tried to incorporate these ideas into tableware for every day use. I have some gorgeous handmade pieces that he used as inspiration for some of Federal Glass's best sellers. He was actually written about in the newspaper when he and some coworkers developed new techniques to make factory glassware look more like handblown. As a child, these lovely things around the house evidently also inspired me!
Ironically, I married a man whose mom also loved the beauty of glass. She has a wonderful collection of glass paperweights that she has collected through the years. Each one is unique and has a personality of its own. She gave one each to our four daughters, but I had to get some shots of them before passing them onto them.
So these are my views of the beauty I see in these treasures from Mary Jo!
And now that these will be treasures in my girls' homes, they will be probably also grow to love the sparkle and beauty that artisans can create with a chunk of hot sand!
