Description
My dad was a Glass man. He worked for Federal Glass from the mid 1950s until it closed in 1979. He was an artist and rose through the ranks to become the Director of Marketing. I remember him visiting many countries and other glass manufacturers to learn and be inspired for new ideas in the industry. He visited nearby Fenton Glass several times. Fenton is the largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United States, and the company is renowned for innovative glass colors as well as handpainted decorations on pressed and blown glassware. We had many beautiful Fenton pieces around our home. I inherited one of those beauties and just love how sunlight dances through the translucence. In this image, I feel that it looks like that beautiful sunlit reflection has spilled out of the glass and onto the table!

Growing up in West Virginia in a small town with three glass factories, all hand blown glass, I can appreciate this story. As a child we used to walk the short distance to the plant and watch the blowers at work through the large windows. Only one of these factories is still there and certainly not of the same quality as before. This is so lovely, Karen. F/L++
